The grand history and legend of the beard goes back a long way. In prehistoric times, it was believed men grew long beards for three main reasons; warmth, as a natural shield from the more delicate parts of the face and for protection, as the beard could cushion blows to the face. The beard has always stood as a symbol of masculinity and throughout history has taken on many different styles across many different cultures. Today, men are bringing back the beard in all its glorious forms and here are the top 5 trends for 2020…
- Stubble
Stubble is the easiest beard to maintain and suits most gentlemen. Use a trimmer once a week to keep it from growing too long. We recommend exfoliating your skin and using a daily moisturiser to soften skin and condition the hair.
- The Goatee
You would think having less beard on your face is easier to maintain but you’d be wrong. Having a goatee requires precision and a steady hand. There are many different variations of the goatee so you may want to try a few different ones out to get that perfect one suited for you. Take your time, use a mirror and always take less off to start with.
- The Beardstache
The beardstache is the perfect beard if you are wanting that added masculinity. The moustache is left longer and fuller than the surrounding beard. This means you can use a comb and a touch of moustache wax to twist the moustache into place.
- Short beard
Short beards are great for less maintenance in the morning but looking stylish throughout the day. Also great for the summer when it’s that little warmer. Simply keep the hair on the cheeks and neck trimmed short, use a beard oil and massage in to moisturise and comb every morning into place. We would recommend visiting your barber on average every 3 weeks to keep your beard polished, rather than patchy.
- Full Beard
Growing a full beard takes time and patience. We would recommend combing your beard when just out of the shower, use a hairdryer to dry into place then finish off with a beard balm for definition and hold. Visit your barber every 5 weeks on average to keep the beard trimmed and growing in the right direction.
